Reality VS Dreams

I believe everyone has a little dream of theirs in the heart, no? At least I do. I want to be called a designer in a near future, opening boutiques that I can call, mine.
But honestly, because of this little dream of mine, I've been hearing too much how I'll never be able to reach that dream of mine. I know, it's not easy. Everyone can just simply says out of their mouth 'Go, just follow your dream', but it's easy said than done.
Designing, to many people in Singapore, it's something that holds no future. But wait, did everyone actually mean places in the US/UK started of as a country that cultivates design? I beg to differ, I believe there's always someone that steps out to make a difference. People in Singapore are being too much blind-folded by reality.
We follow the laws tight and close, we don't dare to speak up for our own rights, we think that getting a stable job is much more promising than following your own dreams. I believe brands like Chanel, LV, and many more didn't start of stable, it's determination, no? If you choose to believe, you will reach your destination one day.
I'm willing to stake my life in this dream of mine, why not? Why live in this world to follow the footsteps of others and not feeling happy and worth it to live on. I don't want this kind of life. Waking up to report to work, knocking off, go back home and still stressing for work. Why?
I honestly dislike it when people ask me to do this and that, I'm not a robot, why should I be under the control of someone.
My sister often tells me that there aren't any future if I take up the course in Poly. But I don't think it this way. I love designing, I dream to open a boutique of my own. At least taking up this course will mean that I'll be happy and determined to do well. Rather than taking any course that I'll prolly just dread going to school in just a short period of time. Like now, the standardized Secondary School life everyone has to go through. I don't like it.
I can go around asking anyone in Singapore if they actually love the job or life of theirs, I believe 9/10 will say no. What everyone's after now is just money. Realistic, but yes, it's true, no?
If you ever have a choice, will you choose to be someone with a last penny in your pocket, but still live the happiest life you ever thought you will lead, working hard for your dream? Or will you choose to be the millionaire, well-known by the world, blinded by branded items, but honestly deep down inside, you're not the least happy at all?
I know my route, I want to lead my own life. I want to be happy. But why is it so tough?
